DAME-MARIE, April 12th, 13th AND 14th 2013
The Cocoa Festival, this great meeting of stakeholders in the cocoa sector, will be held at Dame-Marie from the 12th to the 14 of April 2013. It should be recalled that the first edition of this work was conducted in April 2007 with the main objective of increasing farmers’ income. This goal should be attainable in the coming years, through continuous community awareness of the Grande-Anse region, rehabilitation of cocoa farms, the search for new markets and advocacy with officials from the central government.

Even today, cocoa represents, next to the coffee and mango, one of the last agricultural products exported by the country, thereby improving its balance of payments. Alongside its traditional partners, FESMAR joins this year the National Network for Developers in Fair Tourism (RENAPROTS), to which it belongs, and hopes to promote the event through various tourism networks onwards. Organizations working in the field of environment are also invited to contribute through the exhibition of their products, talks and more.

As usual, the young generation will be central to our sensibilsation action. The “Cocoa Cup”, an interscholastic soccer championship will enter its sophomore year, the yearly drawing competition will be held, not to mention the traditional parade of schoolchildren in the city that always officially opens the festivities. Waiting for the big day, preparations are well underway and the space reserved for the performances, agricultural representatives, as well as artists, is improving.
